01About

The jaw hangs on two small pivots inside the skull and swings freely: flick it or shake it and the teeth clack. A stop holds it at about 40 degrees, so it opens wide but never flops back, and the loop on top takes a keyring.

It prints in two colors on an AMS, ivory skull with black eyes and nose. The project file has both colors assigned, supports placed and settings saved for a Bambu Lab P2S, so it is ready as soon as it opens.

  • Clip-in jaw: two pivots, no pins, no glue
  • Opening stop at about 40°
  • Two colors, already assigned in the project
  • Keyring loop, about 5 mm
  • A spare-jaw file is included
  • Hinged
  • Keychain
  • Two colors
  1. Open the 3MF in Bambu Studio

Open it as a project (File, then Open Project). The printer, plate and settings are already saved, so there's nothing to set up.

  2. Load your filament

    You need two colors:

    • Skull (filament 1)Ivory or opaque white
    • Eyes and nose (filament 2)Black
  3. Print

Then put it together with the steps below.

Opaque white matters: the black eyes and nose are only 1 mm deep, and a thin or translucent white lets them show through.

The P2S project has all of this saved. Printing the geometry file on another printer? These are the settings it was made with.

03Putting it together

  1. Print it

Open Chattering_Skull_COMPLETE_P2S_AMS.3mf in Bambu Studio, map filament 1 to ivory or opaque white and filament 2 to black, and print. It holds both the skull and the jaw; the JAW_ONLY file is a spare.

  2. Clear the pivots

Remove the supports, especially from the jaw holes, the rear stops and the two pivots inside the skull. Both pivot holes need to be clear.

  3. Squeeze and lift

Hold the jaw under the skull, teeth up. Squeeze its two rear arms inward, about 1.4 mm each side, lift the ears between the skull supports, line the holes up with the pivots and let go.

  4. Check the swing

Both pivots should be seated and the jaw should swing freely. Open it gently to feel the stop at about 40°, and don't force it past.

  5. Clack

Hold the skull and flick it or shake it: the jaw drops and clacks. There is no spring, just gravity. A keyring fits the 5 mm loop.

Tight? Clear any support residue first and don't force the arms. Pivots are 2.6 mm, holes 3.2 mm, with 0.65 mm clearance at the sides.
