01About
A friendly cartoon rattlesnake about 31 cm (12 in) long: a smooth sandy tan body cut into 16 sections that wiggle side to side, a brown diamond on each one, a rounded head with black eyes and a little smile, and a rattle of four rounded beads at the tail. The joints are hidden inside the body, so it looks like one smooth snake.
It prints in place in a wide S-curve, already joined, so there's nothing to put together and no glue. It fits a 256 x 256 mm plate. The tail wiggles like the rest of the snake; it doesn't hold loose beads.
The colors change only by height: tan, then brown for the diamonds and the tops of the rattle, then black for the eyes. With an AMS the 3MF does it for you; without one, two filament changes do it, and the guide says exactly where. Or print the STL in one color.
It comes as a Bambu Studio project for a P2S and as STL. The license lets you sell the snakes you make.
- Every section wiggles, right down the rattle
- Prints in place: nothing to assemble, no glue
- Tan, brown and black by height: AMS or two swaps
- Single-color STL for any printer
- About 31 cm (12 in) long, fits a 256 mm plate
- Sell the prints you make
02How to print
Open the 3MF in Bambu Studio
Open it as a project (File, then Open Project). The printer, plate and settings are already saved, so there's nothing to set up. Printing on another brand? Use the STL files with the settings below.
Load your filament
You need three colors:
- BodySandy tan
- Diamonds and rattle topsDark brown
- EyesBlack
Print
Print the snake flat at 100% scale. It comes off the plate in one piece, already joined.
The colors change only by height, so you don't need an AMS: pause after 14.0 mm to change to brown, and after 14.8 mm to change to black. Or print the STL in one color. Keep the scale at 100% (shrinking it closes up the joints), leave every section where it is, and keep bridge cooling on.
Printing on another printer or slicer? See the settings
The 3MF project has these settings saved for a Bambu Lab P2S. Using the STL on another printer? These are the settings it was made with.
- Printer
- Bambu Lab P2S, 0.4 mm nozzle, textured PEI plate at 60 °C
- Material
- Regular PLA, nozzle at 220 °C
- Layer height
- 0.20 mm, first layer 0.20 mm
- Walls
- 3, with 4 top and 4 bottom layers
- Infill
- 12% gyroid
- Supports
- Off, and no brim
- Orientation
- As supplied: flat, with every section where it is on the plate
- Color changes
- Tan to brown after 14.0 mm (layer 70), brown to black after 14.8 mm (layer 74)
03What to print
1 snake. One snake per file:
| Part | How many | Color |
|---|---|---|
| One snake, about 31 cm (12 in) long01-Articulated-Rattlesnake | 1 snake | Tan, brown and black |
About 3 h 25 min and 50 g in three colors, or 2 h 42 min in one color. Pick one format, the 3MF or the STL, not both.
04Getting it moving
Print it
Print the 3MF or the STL once, flat and at 100% scale. Watch the first layer, especially around the head and the rattle.
Let it cool
Let the plate cool completely, then flex it gently. Support the snake along its length as you lift it: don't lift it by the head or the tail.
Loosen the joints
Hold two neighboring sections and wiggle them gently side to side. Work along the whole body and down the rattle until every joint moves.
Clean it up
Pick off any loose strings without cutting into the joints. No glue needed.
These are sideways hinges, not rubber: don't pull the sections apart, twist them upward or force a stuck joint. Keep PLA away from heat, and keep small or broken parts away from young children and pets.
05Selling your prints
Every download comes with a license that lets you sell the physical prints you make. The full terms are in LICENSE.txt inside the ZIP.
You can
- Print it for yourself, family and friends, and as gifts
- Sell physical prints, with no quantity limit or royalty
- Change the files for your own printing, and sell prints of those too
- Use your own photos of your prints to sell them
You can't
- Share, upload, sell or give away the files, or remixes of them
- Pass the files on with a print you sell
- Claim the design as yours, or imply 3MF Labs endorses your shop
