01About

A sweet bow clip that is entirely printed: a teardrop-shaped barrette frame with a flexing tongue down its middle, and a puffy bow with two rounded loops, a little knot and notched tails on top. There is no metal clip, no pin and nothing to glue.

Slide a small section of hair under the frame, then push the tongue tip down and a little sideways until its hook clicks under the small lip at the narrow end. Nudge it the other way to open it. Grip ridges on the tongue help it hold.

Two sizes come in the download: Large, a 60 mm clip with a bow about 43 x 29 mm, and Small, a 46 mm clip with a bow about 33 x 23 mm. Both are about 12 mm tall and print flat, bow up, with no supports.

In one color a clip takes about 20 to 25 minutes and 4 to 5 g. The white clip and pink bow version needs an AMS, since both colors start on the first layer. PLA works for gentle use; PETG gives a springier clip. The projects are set up for a Bambu Lab P2S; it comes as a 3MF project and as STL, and the license lets you sell the prints you make.

  1. Open the 3MF in Bambu Studio

Open it as a project (File, then Open Project). The printer, plate and settings are already saved, so there's nothing to set up. Printing on another brand? Use the STL files with the settings below.

  2. Load your filament

    You need two colors:

    • BarretteWhite
    • BowBlush pink
  3. Print

Print it flat, bow facing up, with no supports. It comes off the plate in one piece, ready to wear: nothing to glue or put together.

Keep the scale at 100%: the catch depends on it. Do not add supports inside the clip or fill the gaps around the tongue.

Printing on another printer or slicer? See the settings

The 3MF projects have these settings saved for a Bambu Lab P2S. Using the STL on another printer? These are the settings it was made with.

03What to print

2 sizes, 1 piece each. Print one or both sizes:

PartHow manyColor
Bow01 Large clip1 pieceAbout 60 x 29 x 12 mm
Bow02 Small clip1 pieceAbout 46 x 23 x 12 mm

Pick one format for each clip, the 3MF or the STL.

04Using your clip

  1. Take it off

Let the plate cool, release the whole clip gently and peel off the brim. Do not pull it up by the tongue or the bow.

  2. Check the catch

Make sure the tongue moves freely and clear any loose strings by hand.

  3. Add hair

Slide a small section of hair between the frame and the tongue, keeping it clear of the catch.

  4. Snap it shut

Push the tongue tip down and slightly sideways until its hook clicks under the little lip. Nudge it back to open.

Use gentle finger pressure and never force the catch. Keep it away from heat, and keep small pieces away from young children and pets.
