01About

Four Christmas tops that are made to spin. The Tree has three steep green tiers and a yellow star on top of its fluted stem. The Snowman stands on a round snow mound with a red scarf, and his black top hat is the grip. The Snowflake is a wide icy blue disc that carries its weight at the rim for the longest spins. The Ornament is a red bauble with a gold cap: spin it hard and it flips over onto its cap and keeps going.

Each top is one solid piece with nothing to put together: no strings, launchers, glue or extra parts. Roll the stem or the hat between thumb and finger, let go upright, and spin it on any smooth, hard table.

The colors change only by height, so each top prints on an AMS, with a pause to swap spools, or in one color. The tops print solid for even balance, with supports, which the files have set up.

The 3MF projects are set up for a Bambu Lab P2S, and the STLs print on any printer. Great as stocking stuffers or desk toys, and the license lets you sell the tops you make.

  1. Open the 3MF in Bambu Studio

    Open it as a project (File, then Open Project). The printer, plate and settings are already saved, so there's nothing to set up. Printing on another brand? Use the STL files with the settings below.

  2. Load your filament

    You need four colors:

    • TreeGreen with a yellow star
    • SnowmanWhite, red scarf, black hat
    • SnowflakeIcy blue
    • OrnamentRed, white stripe, gold cap

  3. Print

    Print each top as supplied, with the supports and brim switched on.

Keep the scale at 100%, the solid infill and the supplied orientations, or the tops lose their balance. Times are for all four on one plate in one color (one top in its colors: about 50 min to 3 h 16 min, 19 to 68 g; the Snowman in one color takes 2 h).

Each file comes as a 3MF project and as an STL: use one or the other, not both. Files with Band in the name are color parts, not separate toys.

04Getting them ready

  1. Remove the supports

    Let the plate cool, lift the print off and peel the brim. Break the supports away gently in small pieces, holding the body, not the stem, star or hat.

  2. Check the tip

    Clear any strings or crumbs from the rim and the point. Never sand or flatten the rounded tip or the Ornament's ball and cap end.

  3. Spin

    Roll the stem (or the Snowman's hat) between thumb and finger and let go upright on a smooth, hard, level table.

  4. Flip it

    Spin the Ornament hard on its ball: it turns over onto its gold cap and keeps spinning. Try a few launches to find the right speed.

05Selling your prints

Every download comes with a license that lets you sell the physical prints you make. The full terms are in LICENSE.txt inside the ZIP.
