01About

A low, heavy-looking cradle that sits on the desk beside your printer. Two long ribbed rollers lie side by side across the top; set a spool on them and it turns freely while the printer pulls filament. No bearings, no screws and no width to adjust.

The holder is 136 x 146 x 40 mm. It fits round spools 140 to 210 mm across and 50 to 90 mm wide, so standard 1 kg spools, cardboard spools and smaller 250 g and 500 g spools all work. The rollers are 24 mm across and 90 mm apart.

Everything prints on one plate: the base lies flat and the two rollers stand upright beside it on small snap-off fins. Snap the fins off by hand, lower each roller into its open seats at both ends, and it is ready. The spool's weight keeps the rollers in place.

One color: no AMS needed. The 3MF project is set up for a Bambu Lab P2S, and the STL prints on any printer. The license lets you sell the holders you make.

  1. Open the 3MF in Bambu Studio

Open it as a project (File, then Open Project). The printer, plate and settings are already saved, so there's nothing to set up. Printing on another brand? Use the STL files with the settings below.

  2. Load your filament

    One color:

    • HolderCharcoal grey
  3. Print

Print the plate as supplied: the base flat and the two rollers standing on their small fins. No supports. Snap the fins off by hand at the lower taper of each roller.

Keep the scale at 100%: the roller seats and spool fit depend on it. Print by layer, keep the brims on the rollers, and let the plate cool before you take the parts off.

Printing on another printer or slicer? See the settings

The 3MF project has these settings saved for a Bambu Lab P2S. Using the STL on another printer? These are the settings it was made with.

03What to print

1 plate, 3 parts. Print the one plate: the base and both rollers:

PartHow manyColor
The base and two identical rollers on one plateFilament-Spool-Holder1×Charcoal grey

The plate comes as a 3MF project and as an STL: use one or the other, not both.

04Using it

  1. Drop in the rollers

Lower each roller level into its pair of open seats, one end in each. Both rollers are the same.

  2. Check they turn

Spin each roller by hand: it should turn freely without rubbing the sides.

  3. Add your spool

Set the spool in the middle so both rims rest on both rollers, then feed the filament to your printer.

The full notes, including troubleshooting and optional rubber feet for a slippery desk, are in START_HERE.txt inside the download. Lift the spool off before moving the holder. Keep PLA away from heat.

05Selling your prints

Every download comes with a license that lets you sell the physical prints you make. The full terms are in LICENSE.txt inside the ZIP.

You can

  • Print it for yourself, family and friends, and as gifts
  • Sell physical prints, with no quantity limit or royalty
  • Change the files for your own printing, and sell prints of those too
  • Use your own photos of your prints to sell them

You can't

  • Share, upload, sell or give away the files, or remixes of them
  • Pass the files on with a print you sell
  • Claim the design as yours, or imply 3MF Labs endorses your shop
