01About

Lift your screen to a more comfortable height and clear some desk space. The shelf is 42 x 21 cm (16.5 x 8.3 in) and stands 10 cm (4 in) tall, leaving an opening 38 cm wide and 8 cm high underneath, enough to slide a keyboard away when you are done. A rounded notch at the back keeps the cables tidy.

The shelf prints in two halves so every piece fits a 256 mm plate. Three butterfly keys press into pockets under the middle seam and click into place, and the two arched legs drop straight into open pockets under the ends. No screws, glue or tools.

Seven printed pieces in one color, no AMS and no supports needed. It holds a monitor on its own foot up to about 8 kg, centred on the shelf. The 3MF projects are set up for a Bambu Lab P2S, and the STLs print on any printer with a 256 mm bed.

It is a big print: about 36 and a half hours and just over 1 kg of PLA for the whole stand, so plan on more than one spool. The license lets you sell the stands you make.

  1. Open the 3MF in Bambu Studio

Open it as a project (File, then Open Project). The printer, plate and settings are already saved, so there's nothing to set up. Printing on another brand? Use the STL files with the settings below.

  2. Load your filament

    One color:

    • StandCharcoal grey
  3. Print

Print everything on the list below, then put it together.

Keep the scale at 100%: resizing changes the fit of the joints. Nozzle 220 C, plate 60 C, auxiliary fan off. Wash the plate and watch the first layer on the big shelf halves.

Printing on another printer or slicer? See the settings

The 3MF projects have these settings saved for a Bambu Lab P2S. Using the STLs on another printer? These are the settings they were made with.

03What to print

7 pieces. One stand: each shelf half once, the leg twice and the key three times:

PartHow manyColor
The left half of the shelf: print it once01-Shelf-Left1×Charcoal grey
The right half, with the cable notch: print it once02-Shelf-Right1×Charcoal grey
An arched end leg: print it twice, it fits both ends03-Leg2×Charcoal grey
Joins the shelf halves: print it three times04-Butterfly-Key3×Charcoal grey

Each shelf half about 12 h 15 min and 364 g, each leg about 4 h 37 min and 130 g, each key about 56 min and 32 g. Each piece comes as a 3MF project and as an STL: use one or the other, not both.

04Putting it together

  1. Clean up

Let every piece cool fully, peel off the brims and clear any loose strings from the open pockets and the small spring slots in the keys.

  2. Join the shelf

Lay both halves smooth face down on a soft, flat surface with the cable notch at the back. Press each butterfly key straight down into its pocket, evenly at both ends, until it clicks in flush. Don't slide or hammer it.

  3. Add the legs

Lower one leg over each end so its two tenons drop straight into the open pockets, the arch facing out, until the leg sits flat on the shelf.

  4. Set it up

Hold both legs and turn the stand upright. Check it sits flat and level, then centre your monitor's foot on the shelf, clear of the notch.

The full notes are in START_HERE.txt inside the download. Up to about 8 kg, centred. Lift the monitor off before moving the stand, and never stand, sit or lean on it. Keep PLA away from heaters and direct sun.
